Over het evenement

Spanish translation program: see below)

For this very last edition of the BabelFestival, we hold the Sunday before ceremonies.

Sunday high day! We close the week with age-old dances, rites and gastronomy from different cultural communities. A ceremony contains creative and symbolic expressions such as texts, music and culinary preparations.

Come and taste, listen and discover how rituals and traditions are experienced by these new Antwerp residents. Everyone is welcome!

The whole afternoon you can enjoy regional Latin American dishes, a souvenir market and folkloric fashion photo booth and be sure to taste the typical purple corn drink. (reservation Pachamanca dish via link below)

Yawar Misty(Sangre Mestiza/HalfBloed) is a cultural association that works on dance, gastronomy and solidarity. The members of the association have deep connections with several Latin American countries, but mainly Peru.  The typical dances of the Peruvian jungle are usually characterized as war dances or local rituals. They are performed by both men and women with a multitude of colorful costumes and details from each small community. Not all rhythms sound cheerful and exuberant, there are also healing sounds and firmer warrior dances.

This Sunday marks the 201st anniversary of Peruvian culture.

Hunger & thirst?

BabelBar is open and a typical Pachamanca platter with drink is available. Reservation via link below.
